Founded in 2002 by a local group of dedicated paddlers, the MWC is a non-profit club that offers whitewater paddlers (and flatwater paddlers alike):

• a welcoming community for all ages and abilities
• pool sessions during the winter months
• web-based community boards for info sharing and juvenile banter
• silly social events and an annual summer Shin Digggg paddling festival
• organized winter pool sessions
• opportunities to network, carpool, and share gas station dinners
• a mighty voice in the province of Manitoba

Note: The MWC club proper does not organize trips or take part in any instructional programs. All trips are casual and initiated by members.

MWC activities include:

• Pool Sessions – October through May
• Member clinics through WAV Paddling (offered at pool sessions)
• Shindigggg – Our annual summer paddling festival - End of June
• Fall Paddle and BBQ – A chance to come together and enjoy some great paddling, food, and campfires before pool season - Mid September
• Other social activities throughout the winter, including: Wall climbing, snowyaking (like toboganning), a night out at Festival du Voyageur…
• Presentations and booth presence for both public events and special interest groups

Membership

Our $10 annual membership gives you invitations to fun club events throughout the year, often at reduced rates, and access to a fabulous paddling community. Sometimes we’ll even throw in some prizes. We currently have about 40 members. Our members represent all ages (teenager to retiree), abilities (beginners to instructors), and interests (C1, playboat, river running, creeking, canoeing, sea kayaking, and all the rest!). We love meeting new people.

Community Forums

When not on the water or at the pool, most members regularly stay in touch through the community boards on our website. Get opinions on gear, news of upcoming events, links to interesting sites of paddling around the world, lost and found, and most importantly, posts about getting out on the water.
